What We Provide
Northern Michigan Regional Hospital Rehabilitation Services is unique in its ability to provide treatment for many types of open wounds or sores. Teamed with your physician, our goal is to provide care that promotes rapid healing.
Who Benefits From Wound Care Services
People with open sores that are the result of an injury, such as a burn or an animal bite, a non-healing surgical wound or an ulcer that is the result of pressure or illness.
Treatment Strategies
Following an initial evaluation, a personalized treatment plan will be developed. Treatment may include wound cleansing, medication and wound coverage (dressing). In the case of non-healing foot wounds such as those seen in some diabetic patients, a total contact cast followed by proper footwear might be an option. Patient education for wound care is an ongoing process involving the patient and family.
