What We Provide
Northern Michigan Regional Hospital Rehabilitation Services offers a therapist-supervised Pool Therapy Program for outpatients. Body weight diminishes by 90% in chest high water. This allows for rehabilitative progress in the water that cannot be achieved otherwise. Other benefits include reduced pain and swelling as well as increased movement and relaxation.
This service is provided at the Charlevoix Community Pool on Thursday afternoons. The pool is only three feet deep at the shallow end, making it secure for less confident swimmers and the water temperature is kept at a comfortable 85 degrees.
Who Can Benefit From Pool Therapy Services
Children, teens and adults who need help regaining strength following illness, surgery or injury as well as those coping with arthritis, back and joint pain can benefit from pool therapy.
