Bronchial thermoplasty is a treatment for adult patients with chronic severe asthma. It is an outpatient procedure that helps to reduce the smooth muscle mass in the airways through delivery of controlled thermal (heat) energy to the airway walls. The thermal energy is delivered to the airway walls over a series of 3 bronchoscopies.
