Northern Michigan Regional Hospital was awarded the 2011 VHA Leadership Award for Community Benefit Excellence. Northern Michigan Regional Hospital is one of only two Health Systems in the United States to be recognized in 2011 with this award.

achieved Magnet® status on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, placing it among only 6.6 percent of hospitals throughout the country and among only 14 in the state of Michigan to receive recognition for nursing excellence.
2011 Practice Greenhealth Environmental Leadership Circle
Northern Michigan Regional Hospital was awarded the Environmental Leadership Circle award for the third consecutive year by Practice Greenhealth. The Environmental Leadership Circle recognizes healthcare facilities that exemplify environmental excellence and are setting the highest standards for environmental practices in healthcare including meeting the criteria for the mercury-free award, recycling at least 25 percent of total waste stream, implementing numerous other innovative pollution prevention programs, and being leaders in their community.
